17 weeks: We Have an Onion!

Sorry for the crappy picture bathrooms aren't the easiest when you're trying to be sneaky :)

How far along? 17 weeks - 3 days.

Baby size? Onion! 5 inches from head to butt! Weighing in at a whopping 3.5 ounces

Total Weight Gain: ....

Maternity clothes? I was getting away with maternity pants and normal shirts...but now my normal shirts are even starting to be short. Maternity clothes are SO comfy though, I don't ever want to go back to normal clothes.

Stretch marks? None yet -- but I'm also avoiding looking down in fear that I might find one.

Sleep: WEIRD dreams. Definitely restless at night, lots of tossing and turning and waking up.

Best Moment:Not sure...just having spent a relaxing day off with Seth I am just a happy lady getting to spend time with him.

Miss anything? Beer, wine, stomach sleeping....and not being stared at.

Movement? Nope :(
Cravings: Ice cream. I've been visiting the McDonald's drive through line for a chocolate dipped cone WAY too often.

Queasy/sick? nope!

Starting to show? Yes :) That happened a lot sooner than I thought!

Gender? Well, I guess it's time to let the cat out of the bag. The Van Nuys name will be passing down another generation. It's a boy!!

Labor signs? No. Thank goodness, no.

Belly button? Sticking out a tiny bit more!

Wedding rings on/off? On!

Mood? Kind of feeling blech today. I think I have a case of the Mondays.

Looking Forward to: feeling our little guy move around.

Names? We've got one...but it's a secret :)

Phew. Almost halfway there. If I'm feeling huge already I cant imagine what I'm going to feel like in October.....

Thanks for following with me on this journey!

Pintertest Success: Mozzarella Chicken Roll Ups

It's been a while since I last cooked for my husband.
I mean really cooked.
Not taco salad,
or throwing a pizza in the oven,
or making sandwiches.

Being pregnant + 6 months of working nights = a wife who forgot how to cook.
Seth has been the best the last few months, surprising me with dinner when I get home late at night and never complaining about my lack of food in the house.

Now that I'm only working one actual night during the week I don't have any excuse. This week was my first real weak transitioning into my new work schedule. I decided on Tuesday that I would make Seth a fantastic meal, start to finish. A protein, a side, and just for fun some cookies too.

I had recently pinned this, which looked fresh and delicious and best of all, easy:

Chicken Mozzarella Rollups

Looks reasonably easy right? I've made chicken cordon bleu before so how hard could it be?!
I was right, this recipe is super easy -- and super delicious too.

You will need:
4 small boneless, skinless chicken breasts
12 large, fresh basil leaves, rinsed and patted dry.
4 pieces roasted red pepper (from a jar), about 2 inches by 5 inches rinsed and patted dry
4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
1.5 cups canned, plain tomato sauce

Preheat oven to 375*

Start with the chicken breasts pounded out to about 1/4 inch. Or just by thin sliced chicken breast like I did.

Add a few basil leaves to cover the breast.

Add one large piece of red pepper.

Also add some cheese on top ( I forgot to take photo) -- just enough to fill the middle and not have it fall out.

Secure with tooth picks.

Place in glass pyrex dish.

Pour tomato sauce and fill the bottom of the pan about 1/2 inch up.

Place in the preheated over for 30 minutes.

When finished take out of oven and top off with mozzarella, broil for 3 minutes.

I made this dish with spaghetti and used the leftover sauce on the bottom!
It was a big hit with Seth and I loved it too.
The basil made the whole dish taste very fresh, and the peppers added a little zest.
I would definitely make this again and again!

I hope to be cooking more often - but I have to admit, it is awesome having Seth cook these days. He is a great cook and picks out some delicious recipes.

Here is the link to the original recipe.

I know I'm very late linking up to the party, but better late than never :)

That Pregnancy Update Post I Know You've Been Waiting For: 15 weeks

It's time. I know after first baby comes I probably won't have the time or energy to devote to posts like these so here I go...documenting this little life growing in my belly :)

Here I am at week 15...and 3 days?

I know, I'm showing a lot more than I thought with my first baby too.
I blame a really short waist. I mean seriously short. And a small lipoma (fatty tumor) I have growing above my bellybutton. Either way, I look really pregnant. And I really can't hide it anymore.

How far along? 15 weeks 4 days

Baby size? An apple!

Total Weight Gain: hahahaha....yea let's just say I'll never talk about that on here.

Maternity clothes? Oh yes. I bought maternity jeans at week 10 and never looked back.

Stretch marks? None yet!

Sleep: Up until this week I have been sleeping really well. This week has been difficult. Waking up a lot, not being able to get comfortable, crazy dreams...I think it's just going to get worse from here.

Best Moment: Seth telling me I didn't look pregnant..and that I just looked amazing. That was only last week. I love him.

Miss anything? Beer, wine, hookah, rare steak.....*sigh*

Movement? No. I have an anterior placenta so chances are I won't feel anything for a while. Kind of sad, and definitely nerve wracking!

Cravings: Burritos, cereal, bubble tea. Nothing too crazy, right?

Queasy/sick? No. Smells are still bothering me quite a bit but it's more annoying than sickening.

Starting to show? Yes. Oh yes. I've been asked if I'm having twins.....and no, as of right now there is only 1 baby in there!

Gender? early NT scan showed some boy parts but we will have that confirmed in a few weeks. I. CANT. WAIT.

Labor signs? No. Thank goodness, no.

Belly button? Still full inny. No real changes yet.

Wedding rings on/off? On. Happily on! It will be a sad day to have to part with these babies!

Mood? Happy Happy Happy!

Looking Forward to...finding out gender and feeling movement!

Names? We're talkin. We probably won't be sharing super publicly before hand...we have to keep some things a surprise.

Tonight we're at home watching "The Business of Being Born" after I had a 12 hour work day. Seth made dinner, and dessert...and is pretty much the best husband I could ever dream up. He has beyond amazing this far and I couldn't be more thankful.

I'm looking forward to starting on this journey and documenting all of the fun, exciting, and terrifying things that go along with pregnancy!

Until next week...
